About

My family moved to China in 1997 and even though I was young and didn't have a camera at the time, those are the scenes I will never forget. I have since traveled around the world a few more times with camera in tow.

There is nothing more interesting to me than the ways we differ as cultures. The idea of something being "exotic" is entirely dependent on your current circumstances and overall experience. We are all exotic just as much as we are all the same. This truth enlightened me as a child and enriched me as an adult. I considered my travels as my most valuable education and born out of a fear of forgetting, I wanted to photograph the things I saw.

As the years went by and my passion for photography grew, I would bring more and newer gear on each trip. There were places I would return to only to find the people using the same wooden plows they had used years before. In many places however, the same people would be using mobile phones or watching satellite TV. The world keeps turning for all of us, but change is not constant. The photographs I take now stand as a record of the experience I hold dear. These things happened and these people existed. The lives and moments passing by all over Earth are overwhelming to any one person but for a fraction of a second at least, I try to save them.
